How it works

Who's got the time to journal daily? You do.

1. Read the daily writing prompt.
2. Push "Play" on the timer on the right side of the screen.
3. Spend 60 seconds or less writing a response to the daily prompt.

You may respond in the "Comments" section of each post, if your response is family-friendly. Or you can use your word processor, or an old-fashioned pen and paper. It's up to you. Also feel free to use the "Comments" section for informal discussion about the responses that are posted.

If the daily prompt inspires you to write something on your own blog or website, please link back to this site.

Today, take a minute to write!

Today's Writing Prompt: Prize

If I could give a real prize to every One-Minute Writing of the Day winner, what would be an appropriate one? (Be as extravagant as you'd like! I have unlimited imaginary money!)

One-Minute Writing of the Day:
Writer: christine

Unlimitied money? I'd love a book contract for every winner - it's the only way most of us will get one!!!

But I love the badge :)

Congratulations on another win, christine! I think a book deal is a perfect prize. And so...book deals to all the winners! Of course, they are imaginary book deals, given by my imaginary major publishing company. But they also come with huge imaginary royalties--hooray!

First let me say, I would be honored to build a spiral staircase in your home Autum.

I think the best prize would be to have two or three months of the persons entries put into a book, and placed on the shelves of bookstores, and perhaps a copy in a time capsule so that people of the future could get an idea of what talents we possessed.

May I say that the current prize (a mention on this blog's main page) is already very fulfilling; not only for the writer, but for the readers, who are treated to a writing talent mostly above average, and are given the opportunity to visit this person's blog for more eloquent creativity.

P.s. I adore this blog, though I mostly do not comment, I always read it with pleasure.

Well, perhaps a compilation of a year's worth of 'best writings', but that should be made available to everyone...

So I'd say a gorgeous quill pen with a crystal bottle of purple ink. Author's dream *ecstatic sigh*

A 365-day tear-away desk calendar with a topic on each day. Each page as lines on the front and back for writing about the topic.

I think just the award and the mention is fine, but what would also be quite cool would be a series of books of collections of 1 minute writer winners.

My extravagant reward is in being acknowledged. Thank you for the support. May you receive as much acknowledgement as you have given.

Not sure though, maybe a printed off certificate showing what you posted congratulating you on a good entry.
