An ostrich. My hubby reports that he's seen one walking down the street like he owned it, but I've only seen them at the zoo.

I had only seem them in books before and I assumed that they would be ugly.

They are not! They are strange and gorgeous! Their lashes are long and their eyes huge. Their necks move so strangely, like they're birds from another planet and their size - intimidating but cool.

Sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner at "camp" I looked up to see three wolves running. Just yards from the back window following the trail of several deer that had passed earlier. Wild and stunning...

I have been on safari in Africa and was stunned by the elephants and giraffes and the many kind of antelopes. But I Africa, and also in Thailand, I saw an animal, or maybe it's properly called a reptile, called a water monitor -- a very large lizard which I found absolutely amazing to look at. I certainly wouldn't want to have on at home!

Strolling in the city of Cartagena, Colombia a three toed sloth was thrust into my hands and i understood for a price the owner would take a picture of me holding it.It was so cuddly and cute and it snuggled into my neck. It loved being petted and it's fur felt like quills but softer than what i think a porcupines would be.The pic cost me $5. (taken with my own camera)and i was fine with that because i don't get to hold or pet a three toed sloth very often.

Watching an orangutang at a Florida primate sanctuary. What a fascinating sight it was to have the orangutang shell peanuts flick the shell back at us with his fingers.
