Today's Writing Prompt: Holiday
What do you think we should have a national holiday for? Something we don't have already!

In the US, August is the only month without a holiday. I think we have more than enough holidays already but if I were to propose one for August I think it would State Fair Day since many states have state fairs in August. And August is a time to do thing as a family (often on vacation) so why not visit a state fair?
We have no national holiday to recognize the native heritage of our land. I would like a holiday that focuses on the culture, history and heritage of the first people. I am not a native but feel strongly that we should honor them with a holiday.
There is also no holiday that celebrates a woman. We have Lincoln, Washington, ML King and even Presidents Day, but I would like to see a day honoring Elizabeth Stanton for her work to get the vote for women.
I think we should have a national learning disabilities day in America. In the world today people seem to have a bad notion for people with learning disabilities. They may think that people with learning disabilities are mentally retarded and can’t function in society. But I think that they are smarter than anyone else in the world. People with learning disabilities see things in different ways; ways that regular people can’t see or think. I believe we should have a holiday that raises awareness, support, and celebrates people with learning disabilities.
