My parents are here visiting and my dad told me I was a great writer yesterday. Everyone was shocked into silence, the conversation just stopped. I should have gotten it on tape! It was great!
If you could receive wonderful, honest praise from any one person, living or dead, who would it be?
How it works
Who's got the time to journal daily? You do.
1. Read the daily writing prompt.
2. Push "Play" on the timer on the right side of the screen.
3. Spend 60 seconds or less writing a response to the daily prompt.
You may respond in the "Comments" section of each post, if your response is family-friendly. Or you can write in your own journal or blog. If you respond in a public blog post, post the link in the comments and share it with us. Also feel free to use the "Comments" section for informal discussion about the responses that are posted.
Today, take a minute to write!

Enough praise to keep me going for a while came yesterday in the form of a rejection. The editor loves my novel but her higher-ups have a different plan for their publications. She says, "maybe one day..." That is so much more heartening than my fears that everyone would decide it's terrible. I understand these corporate decisions. To know a stranger loves my book is praise enough.
I would LOVE to hear my parents tell me that they are really proud of me and don't think I am such a screw up after all. I should flush that idea down the toilet though. Finding praise from others only brings me disappointment.
Praise from my daughter for hopefully being a good mother to her, a friend and secret keeper.
Praise from my parents, long dead. "Your family is wonderful. Your girls and their families are just what we hoped for you."
