"Do or do not, there is no try."
I used to think Yoda was saying, Act or fail! Now I realise it is simply an observation: We do something or we don't do it. It relieves me of the burden of believing I have to do things well, or even at all.
"We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing." George Bernard Shaw
I read this as doing that which is spontaneous and brings us delight. Too many people use aging as a reason to become inactive physically and mentally. The spark of spontaneous joy is lost from their lives.
1-3-13 My response to The One-Minute Writer prompt for today:
Favorite Quote
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
Anne Frank (1929-1945)
Anne Frank's inspiring quote resonates in my soul. To me, it means more than making a difference; everything we do arguably makes a difference. But to improve the world. Wow. And the notion that we "need not wait a single moment... to start" boggles my mind.
What if 1,000 people began each day thinking about my favorite quote? A million people? And what if nobody waited a single moment to start? Imagine what a wonderful world it would be.
John Lennon: "War is over, if you want it."
The source of all conflict is in your head. Change your mind & you change the world.
"Colloquially expressed, but essentially correct." Spock. Spock doesn't even use correct grammar. It's to the point.
What will you do with your one wild and precious life? Mary Oliver
This quote reminds me to live in the moment. Treasure the one chance we have to live each day.
I would have to say a quote by Tommy Tenney author of Godchasers. "God is always doing something; find out what God is doing and join in". This quote inspires me to not sit back and wait for soemone else to be active in making changes for my community, my city, my world . It encourages me to know that God is still on the throne, wants the best for his children and is always speaking a Word in every season. Listen, can you hear him? He is saying go into all the world and tell all of me; go into the highways and byways, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, encourage the downtrodden. Be my body.
